We carved this image of Medusa as a timeless icon.  The ancient Greek legend goes that Medusa was born with such captivating beauty that even Poseidon the god of the seas fell in love with her.  Athena became so jealous of Medusa's beauty that she turned her into a hideous creature, complete with snakes in her hair and a countenance that would turn to stone anyone who gazed upon it.
